Ingredients for the honey glazed salmon marinade
What is honey glazed salmon? This honey glazed salmon is a flavorful recipe where salmon fillets are glazed with a sweet and savory Asian-inspired glaze. The glaze is made by combining honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, and garlic powder. This dish is delicious because of the perfect balance of savoriness and sweetness that compliments the salmon perfectly. The salmon in this recipe is baked, which allows the glaze to caramelize, giving the fish a delicious sticky topping.
How to make honey glazed salmon in the air fryer vs. in the oven? You can absolutely bake salmon in either the oven or in the air fryer and achieve delicious results. If your oven has the convection function, you can essentially think of it as a large air fryer, and this is my preferred method for cooking honey glazed salmon. When cooking in the convection oven or in the air fryer, air is circulated throughout the oven to create a flavorful, almost crispy exterior on the salmon. This method is especially beneficial for a recipe like this where the glaze will caramelize beautifully in the convection oven or the air fryer. If you don’t have a convection function on your oven or an air fryer, you can certainly still make this recipe — my only recommendation would be to broil the salmon briefly towards the end of the cooking time to caramelize the glaze.
Can you make honey glazed salmon in advance? Yes, you can make this honey glazed salmon recipe as a healthy meal prep option to add in your weekly repertoire. I recommend only making the salmon a couple of days ahead of time to make sure it stays as fresh as possible, but it makes a great quick dinner or lunch option when paired in a bowl with fresh vegetables or in a salad.
What to serve with honey glazed salmon? My favorite way to serve honey glazed salmon is to create a bowl full of accompaniments and fresh vegetables to complement the salmon. I love to prepare freshly diced cucumbers, diced avocado, pickled red onions, and rice alongside the salmon to create the perfect bowl for lunch or dinner.
How to tell when salmon is finished cooking? Salmon should be cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit, something you can easily measure with a digital thermometer. This takes about 15 minutes in the oven when it’s set to bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Visually, the salmon should be opaque, slightly browned on top, and sticky with the glaze from this recipe.
How to make honey glazed salmon:

Honey Glazed Salmon
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sriracha
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder or granulated garlic
- 1 lb salmon
- Optional - top with sesame seeds
Instructions
- Using a sharp knife, cut the salmon into 3 equal-sized portions and set the pieces in a large container. Cutting the salmon smaller allows the salmon to soak up more flavor from the marinade in a shorter amount of time, and it will bake faster.
- Mix ingredients to the marinade and pour over salmon fillets. Marinade the salmon for at least 3 hours or up to 24 hours.
- Bake the salmon on a sheet pan at 375°F for 12-15 minutes or until it reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit and the glaze has caramelized.
Notes
Tip - if your oven has a convection function cook the salmon on this setting to achieve an even browner, stickier glaze. If you don’t have a convection setting, consider browning the salmon with the broiler for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking time.
